Do you want to talk to someone in confidence but you’re not sure who to trust?
Are you unsure if you are experiencing domestic abuse?
Are you worried about a friend or relative and don’t know how to help them?
Our Domestic Abuse Helpline operates across the four counties of West Mercia – Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is staffed by trained workers who can offer support, safety planning, information and advice.
The staff can help you assess whether you and your children (if any) are at risk from domestic abuse, and can discuss what options are available to you, including other services that WMWA provides. These include refuge accommodation, one-to-one support, awareness raising and recovery programmes. They can also signpost you to services provided by other agencies, for example legal advice.
Helpline calls are free from landlines and will always be treated confidentially, except where there is risk of harm to children or vulnerable adults, in which case the helpline worker may need to contact another agency to make sure the vulnerable person or child is protected and to get you any additional help you need.
Practitioners and professionals wanting to make referrals or looking for specialist advice and information on domestic abuse issues are also welcome to ring the helpline or email their query, which will be dealt with within 48hrs.
