"WELCOME TO PROJECT RISING

Domestic violence and stalking affect men and women regardless of age, race, nationality, culture, religion, sexual orientation, educational background and income.  It is a major concern in our communities, our schools and our government.  If you have not been abused, chances are you know someone who has.

An estimated 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are physically assaulted by an intimate partner annually in the United States.1

15.5 million U.S. children live in families in which partner violence occurred at least once in the the past year, and 7 million children live in families in which severe partner violence occurred. 2

During a 12 month period, an estimated 3.4 million persons age 18 years or older were victims of stalking. 3

Overall, 59 percent of female victims and 30 percent of male victims were stalked by some type of intimate partner. 4

71% of pet owners entering domestic violence shelters report that their batterer had threatened injured or killed family pets .5

About 4 in 10 stalkers threatened the victim or the victim’s family, friends, co-workers, or family pet. 6

Project Rising is a non profit organization dedicated to providing information and support in the areas of domestic violence, stalking and the related abuse of animals.  Here, you will find valuable information on the facts, signs, myths and misconceptions, safety and national and international resources.  We also know there is a wealth of valuable input and information among the survivors and professionals in our very diverse community .  Our discussion forums are available to those who are seeking or would like to offer support. It is our goal to share, inform, empower and create the expectation of healthy relationships.

Awareness. Empowerment. Freedom.  This is the path to eliminating relationship violence."

"Domestic violence and stalking cross many classes, cultures and groups.  While legal definitions vary by state/country, domestic violence and stalking also include abuses that go beyond what their labels suggest, such as child abuse and neglect, sexual assault, elder abuse and animal abuse.

Project Rising strives to connect the public with as much information on domestic violence, stalking and their related issues as possible.   We hope you will find the links on the left of this page to be helpful and informative.  Feel free to contact us with any additional resources or suggestions that may be helpful to our efforts.
