"Nottingham Central Women's Aid has existed since the 1970s to support women and children fleeing domestic abuse. We reopened on the 27th of January 2012 following a period of closure due to cuts in funding.
We aim to provide safe temporary accommodation, with support for women with or without children, who are living with or have experienced any form of physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or economic abuse.
Nottingham Central Women's Aid is a registered charity and company.
The Refuge is housed in a large building which can accommodate six families. Communal areas include, sitting room
dining/kitchen, laundry, children’s playroom, equipped play yard and back yard."
"Who we can support?
We can support women over the age of 16 who have experienced domestic violence and abuse from partners, ex partners or family members. We accept women from any background, of any ability and women with additional support needs such as substance misuse or mental health issues. We also support women who have been subject to rape and sexual assaults.
Unfortunately the refuge is not currently accessible to wheelchair users.
How can we help?
We offer practical and emotional support as well as advice and advocacy. We work in partnership with many other agencies to ensure that you receive as much support and help as you need. For example we can offer support around claiming welfare benefits, legal options, healthcare, education, housing and move-on.
