"Womens Aid, keeping women and children safe

Women’s Aid Newry, Mourne, South Down and South Armagh was founded in 1983 in response to the urgent need to provide vital support and accommodation to women & children affected by domestic violence in our local community.

Support in the community

Practical and emotional support is provided to families affected by domestic violence who choose to remain at home or in a community setting through a floating support service. Support Worker can meet with you in your home or place of your choice to offer you information, advice, support, or when in crisis.

Support can be also offered in attending court, solicitors, or when dealing with other agencies. The aim of the service is to help those women with special and complex needs, specific to their domestic violence situation, to maintain and sustain their home through making informed choices about their accommodation needs.

Children and young people

Individual or group work programmes are offered, which are needs-led and are centrally focused on supporting children and young people. Our programmes aim to build children and young people’s self esteem and confidence, and enable them to participate in a group. Programmes also help children and young people to identify their own personal support network. The emphasis is on learning through fun activities and group discussion. "
